News: Jonny Corralitos Returns with Bold New EP World Of Sound, Championing Authentic, Genre-Spanning Songcraft

California-born singer-songwriter and producer Jonny Corralitos has officially released his latest solo project, World Of Sound, a seven-track album that serves as both a declaration and celebration of his creative identity.

Throughout the years, Corralitos has performed alongside major acts including No Doubt, Big Audio Dynamite, and Santana. He later contributed to San Francisco indie rock outfit The Magic of Television and New York City’s rock collective Lonehawk, honing a sound that is both deeply personal and musically expansive.

Marrying gritty, melodic vocals with crisp guitar tones, the new project World Of Sound leans heavily on Corralitos’ rich musical heritage, blending indie rock, power pop, and reggae influences into a sound that feels both nostalgic and forward-thinking. The album channels the freewheeling energy of Jack Johnson and Pavement while carving out a modern, genre-hopping identity all its own.

“In an era when much of popular music sounds like an endless loop of the same auto-tuned pseudo-melody over a stubbornly unimaginative drum program,” Corralitos said, “I wanted to keep the torch of original music, truly original music, burning hot and bright. Beyond the wry lyrics and ace musicianship, the main thing these songs deliver: big fun, from start to finish.”

The new release is a culmination of decades of musical exploration for Corralitos, who was raised off-grid in California, steeped in a unique musical upbringing surrounded by cosmic hippies and a vinyl-rich diet of folk rock, reggae, ska, and punk. He first made waves in the West Coast music scene as the frontman of The Square Roots, one of the early trailblazers fusing eclectic sounds into a surf-adjacent, genre-bending format.

Now, with World Of Sound, Corralitos invites listeners back into his sonic world—one where boundaries are blurred, fun is fundamental, and musical sincerity rings louder than ever.
