See: New Video for Bastille Vs. Haim – Bite Down

After a string of brilliant EPs, the Haim sisters Este, Alana and Danielle became the BBC’s sound of 2013. They followed that with ‘Days Are Gone,’ one of the best albums of the year. At around the same time, singer songwriter Dan Smith and his band Bastille were releasing their breakthrough single ‘Pompeii’. They followed that with a number one album, and a string of hit singles and numerous awards. But now, at the rear end of 2014 the two acts have got together for this collaborative single.

‘Bastille Vs. Other People’s Heartache’ are a series of Mixtapes brought out by the band. Now on the third volume, they have teamed up with the likes of MNEK, Angel Haze and Skunk Anansie (Remember them?) The a Haim team-up ‘Bite Down’ is the preview track.
Anyone more familiar with the band from their big singles such as ‘Flaws’ and ”Laura Palmer’ might be a bit surprised by this track. It is a more electronic sound than anything that either of the two featured bands are famous for releasing. Primarily this is a Bastille track, with Haim taking on more of a backing vocal role, but their distinguished vocals are clearly there adding something special.
Whilst I have never really followed Bastille as a band too closely, this track and the Mixtape it promotes have definitely showed me a different side to them. I am now a fan, and I recommend giving this a listen.
