Legendary Liverpudlians China Crisis are celebrating 40 years together with an Australian tour in December 2022.
China Crisis is a prime example of a band that is able to mix an inherent pop sensibility with intelligent lyrics and a danceable jet propulsion energy. From their very first single, the classic ‘African And White’, this band released some of the very best examples of pure pop that sparkled with energy, taking their place proudly next to the overwhelming wave of talent that emerged from Liverpool at the time – Echo and the Bunnymen, Frankie Goes To Hollywood and The Tear Drop Explodes.
This is a top hits celebration tour which will feature songs such as ‘Wishful Thinking’, ‘Working With Fire and Steel’, ‘Black Man Ray’, ‘Arizona Sky’, ‘African and White’, ‘King in a Catholic Style (Wake Up)’, ‘Christian’, and ‘Tragedy and Mystery’, but the band has been playing together with the core members Gary Daly and Eddie Lundon for a while now and is great to see their endurance.
I saw them play twice in London supporting Simple Minds in the early years – a brillant live band with a massive songwriting talent.
