Logic1000 has teamed up with cult British producer Jam City for ‘Jersey’, the latest taste of her forthcoming second album Confirmation!, due October 2 via Therapy/Because Music.
Where Logic1000’s music has often found its power in restraint, ‘Jersey’ heads enthusiastically in the opposite direction. A driving groove and bright synths push the track relentlessly forward, with Samantha Poulter leaning into the bigger, more immediate end of her production.
“I feel like this song is meant to be played full volume in a car, if you have access to one,” Poulter says. “When we finished the track we played it in a hire car and it blew the top off.”
‘Jersey’ offers a particularly exuberant glimpse of Confirmation!, the follow-up to Logic1000’s acclaimed 2024 debut Mother. Where that record was shaped by the profound changes surrounding Poulter becoming a parent, its successor finds her exploring acceptance, confidence and the understanding that identity is never entirely fixed.
Musically, the album promises to stretch considerably wider, bringing Logic1000’s club instincts together with trip-hop, big beat, ’80s synth-pop, indie songwriting and leftfield electronica. Christine and the Queens, FAUZIA, yunè pinku, KUČKA and Tiffi M join Jam City among its collaborators.
It continues an impressive run for the Sydney-born, Berlin-based producer, whose ascent has included sets at Glastonbury, Coachella and Primavera, a four-night Phonox residency and remixes for Dua Lipa, Shygirl and Don Toliver.
For now, though, ‘Jersey’ requires considerably less analysis. Find some speakers, turn them up and imagine the power suit.
