MSTRY shares the swelling new single ‘Not The Same’, featuring Nina Arya – the second single from their forthcoming debut EP. and offers a glimpse into the darker, heavier sound shaping his next chapter.

Driven by hypnotic production and a commanding vocal performance from Nina Arya, ‘Not The Same’ brings together pulsing basslines, fierce lead synths and expansive, cinematic breakdowns before plunging into gritty, deep drops. The contrast between its atmospheric passages and hard-hitting low end gives the track a sense of scale and tension, while maintaining a clear melodic focus. With Arya already earning support from BBC Radio 1, BBC Radio 6 Music and the Asian Network, alongside appearances at Reading and Leeds, Latitude and numerous BBC events, the collaboration brings together two artists with a shared appetite for bold, forward-thinking sounds.

Discussing the single, MSTRY explains: “Not The Same introduces the darker, heavier side of my production – the sonic space where I feel most at home. Balancing gritty, atmospheric sounds with a careful attention to melody, the track serves as a defiant statement. Featuring powerful vocals by Nina Arya, the rebellious lyrics explore the frustration of feeling entirely disconnected from the people who lead us.”

The track signals a clear statement of intent from MSTRY, whose latest release channels frustration and disconnection into a weighty electronic production. Rather than relying solely on its bass-driven intensity, ‘Not The Same’ balances its heavier moments with carefully constructed melodic elements, allowing Arya’s vocals to cut through the atmosphere and reinforce the track’s defiant edge.

Having spent years engineering and producing for other artists across a diverse range of genres, MSTRY is now stepping out from behind the mixing desk to establish his own identity within the underground, with a particular focus on the 140 UK dubstep scene. His debut single, ‘Electric In The Air’, has already secured support across digital streaming platforms, including a placement in Beatport’s Best New Trap/Future Bass playlist.

With further singles planned and a broader body of work taking shape, MSTRY is steadily building towards his forthcoming EP. ‘Not The Same’ marks another step in that progression, introducing a heavier, more confrontational sound while setting the tone for what comes next.
