On the Wednesday evening before the Easter long weekend, as the faithful 4 day campers are making their way in and setting up camp, Bluesfest have, over recent years, put on a single stage event with 3 or 4 acts as way of saying thank you to those festival goers who are regarded as the lifeblood of the event.
This year, those who had made their way in early for their camping were offered 3 amazing artists that evening- Electric Cadillac, Don West and The California Honeydrops.
Electric Cadillac are a four-piece blues band hailing from Indonesia, and play electric blues. It was a treat to see this band open proceedings with a set full of classic songs from the blues canon – the musical genre for which Bluesfest made its’ name.

Don West is a Sydney-based soul revivalist (and sometime model) who lists acts such as Marvin Gaye, Curtis Mayfield and the San Diego based Thee Sacred Souls as inspirations for his smooth blend of pop, soul and r&b.

The night closed out with the wonderful improvisational skill of Oakland’s retro-soul purveyors, The California Honeydrops, as they unleashed their infectious brand, showing why they are a Bluesfest crowd favourite.
