News: Sydney’s Phoenix Central Park Announces Season VI

Phoenix Central Park

Phoenix Central Park’s Season VI, the newest programme from Sydney’s most beautiful listening room, kicked off on 13 October and will run until 17 December 2022.

Creative Director Beau Neilson has spoken about how Season VI will feature an all-femme line-up that spans diverse genres and will include both local and global talent.

“Gender inequality persists in our industry. When some of us miss out on opportunities, the true potential for richness and vibrancy of creativity is lost. Now is the time to act. Australia has no shortage of exceptional femme talent who all have important stories to share. We hope this program will elevate these inspiring artists and open the audiences mind to new things.”

Included in Season VI will be rising stars like Ashli, representing the ever-growing Western Sydney music scene, and Kyoshi, part of a new wave of jazz and soul music. The diverse programme includes punk rockers MOD CON and electronic raver Hextape will also be appearing.

Satu Vänskä will be leading members from the ACO in an all-new creative project during Season VI and Véronique Serret will share her debut album with 6-string violin and electronics.

The year will be closed out with a celebration of ten years of the iconic Milk! Records with Hachiku, Lily Morris, Jess Ribeiro and Courtney Barnett performing.

The Phoenix Central Park is an outstanding venue. Backseat Mafia was at Andrew Tuttle’s recent performance, which took place over there. The voluptuous wooden walls and curved ramp complemented by the super high ceiling, give the place an other worldly, ethereal atmosphere. It certainly is one of the jewels in the Emerald city’s crown.

The Phoenix Central Park has a unique ethos and operation as all shows are free and run through a ballot system, meaning everyone has an equal opportunity to see an array of world class performances, which is a wonderful idea.
