Dom Quincey shares the intimate, beautiful new single ‘Through The Door’.

Opening with warming, lightly strummed guitar, Quincey’s silk-like vocals soon enter, carrying a cinematic depth and emotional sincerity. After the transportive chorus, the track gradually builds with muted drums, subtle strings and warming bass, the track is both commercially minded in its melodic choices yet musically mature and heartfelt, ultimately comparable to the likes of Jeff Buckley and Phoebe Bridgers. Patient, unhurried, yet undeniably powerful, the single is beautifully balanced and restrained.

Speaking about the single, Quincey explains: “When loss feels impossible to comprehend, it’s easier to live in fantasy than in the reality of their absence.

‘Through the Door’ was a really difficult song for me to write and record. It continues the story of loss which I started on my last single, ‘It’s Not the End…’, but from a more raw perspective. It’s about losing someone suddenly and being left with so much unfinished business. There’s a specific kind of yearning that comes from that. I wrote it from a place of bargaining where you’d do anything for them to just come back, even though you know they won’t.”

Across his work, Dom Quincey continues to carve out a cinematic form of indie pop that mythologises grief, blending hauntingly pure vocals with 90s alt-rock guitar textures and baroque-leaning string arrangements. His music exists in a space between introspection and catharsis, balancing nostalgic melodies with an entirely modern emotional scope – an approach which is fully realised and shines brightly on the new single.
