News: The legendary Ed Kuepper (The Saints, The Aints, Laughing Clowns) announces ‘The Exploding Universe of Ed Kuepper’ – a glorious vinyl collection to celebrate 45 years as an artist

Ed Kuepper has been a spine in the body of Australian indie music ever since forming The Saints in 1973 – releasing what is often argued as the first ever punk single ‘I’m Stranded’ – and a body of extraordinary work in the innovative The Laughing Clowns, The Aints and as a solo artist.

To celebrate a stunning 45 years in the industry, Kuepper has just announced the release of three LPs that celebrate his post The Saints years.

The first collection will be Kuepper’s brilliant solo work – ‘Ed Keupper Singles ’86 – ’96” – his first ever singles-only collection containing all of the A-sides he released on either 7”,12” or CD single between 1986 and 1996. This will be a remastered limited-edition double LP and be available in a selection of either red, yellow, green, or black vinyl. It will also be available on CD and early editions will include a bonus disc of b-sides and rarities.

This solo work is exquisite – beautifully crafted statuesque songs that have become classics and well worth revisiting.

Also for release is a Laughing Clowns collection called ”Golden Days”. This will be the very first Laughing Clowns release on vinyl featuring 10 songs handpicked by Kuepper from across the band’s catalogue. Remastered for vinyl for the first time and available in a limited edition run on clear vinyl only (no CD).

Finally, Kuepper is releasing work by his band The Aints – ‘The Aints! ‘Live at Marrickville Bowlo”. This is a live recording of The Aints! premiering their debut album ‘The Church of Simultaneous Existence’ in front of a sold-out house two whole days before the actual studio recording began, and will be available for the first time in a limited edition run on orange vinyl only (no CD).

All three albums will be released Friday, 28 May 2021 here and at select stores. What an absolutely delightful collection from one of the maestros of the indie music scene in Australia.
