London and Berlin-based underground electronic artist LAMIA has unveiled her most ambitious project to date with the release of ‘Requiem For A Dream’ – a self-produced single accompanied by her directorial debut music video.
Filmed on location in Hong Kong, the audiovisual work serves as the first chapter of her forthcoming visual album, ‘Nighthawks’, introducing audiences to a striking world of neon-drenched cinematography, fractured club rhythms and cinematic storytelling.
‘Requiem For A Dream’ marks a significant creative milestone, with LAMIA taking full artistic control across both music and film. She wrote, recorded and produced the track, while also directing, starring in and editing the accompanying video.
Set against the glowing backdrop of Hong Kong’s streets after dark, the music video follows LAMIA in dual roles as herself and a heartbroken protagonist navigating a liminal urban landscape. As the character wanders through the city, she confronts memories, illusion and emotional loss before arriving at a moment of acceptance. The project explores recurring themes throughout LAMIA’s work, including urban dreams of self-actualisation, loneliness and psychological fragmentation, while weaving together intimate songwriting with immersive visual storytelling.
“I am excited about The Requiem For A Dream audiovisual project. It is my self-produced music and solo directorial debut,” explains LAMIA…“It is a project that examines life’s complex experiences, such as tensions between urban dreams of self-actualisation, illusion, and psychological fragmentation. Against the backdrop of Hong Kong’s metropolis, the video uses metaphors such as neon lights to signify LAMIA’s character as an outsider, relationship illusions, and the fragility between reality and imagination. I am deeply proud of this project. The conceptual exploration through music and video combined is my best work as an artist so far.”
LAMIA’s multidisciplinary practice is underpinned by an equally distinguished academic background. She graduated with Distinction from Goldsmiths, University of London, with a Master’s in Music supported by multiple scholarships, and is an alumna of Leeds Conservatoire and The BRIT School. She is currently undertaking a second Master’s degree in Film, a natural progression inspired by her rare form of synesthesia, through which she experiences sound alongside vivid cinematic imagery.
Her audiovisual work has screened at the Berlin Music Video Awards for three consecutive years, won Best Music Video at the Berlin Indie Film Festival and was selected for the Tokyo International Short Film Festival. Alongside her recorded output, LAMIA has performed at Berghain Kantine, DIM Warehouse and BBC Introducing Live Sessions, where BBC Introducing’s Alan Raw described her as “one of the best live performers we have ever had.” She has also presented artist research at CTM Festival and Most Berlin.
To celebrate the launch of ‘Requiem For A Dream’, a private screening and Q&A will take place at Funkhaus Berlin in July 2026, offering audiences an exclusive preview of the visual universe that will continue across the forthcoming ‘Nighthawks’ project.
With ‘Requiem For A Dream’, LAMIA delivers an immersive statement of artistic intent, seamlessly merging electronic music and cinema into a singular audiovisual experience. As the opening chapter of ‘Nighthawks’, the project signals the arrival of an artist whose vision extends well beyond conventional genre boundaries, creating emotionally resonant worlds where memory, imagination and identity converge.
