Lōwli is the nom de plume for Irish composer and songwriter Roisin Lowry and we are honoured to bring you a first listen to her new single ‘Ground Above You’, released through Veta Records.

The track opens up with a raw insistent piano: so evocative and enigmatic you can hear the very mechanics of the instrument, vibrant and raw. This tone feeds through the entire song with sweeping emotive strings and acoustic, febrile instrumentation that shimmers with an aquatic, sibilant air. Gliding over the top, Lōwli’s vocals are velvet and soothing, a hint of melancholia and deep yearning threaded through the delicate melodies.

The track explores themes of identity, existence and disconnection depicted from an introspective lens and this feeds into the ethereal, haunting air created by the textured sounds. The music ripples like the the effects of a pebble skimming across the surface of a still pond, and is just as transfixing and hypnotic.

‘Ground Above You’ is out on 30 April 2025 and will be available to download and stream here. It is lifted from Lōwli’s debut album due out later this year.
