Premiere: Mick Dimitri releases new video for the slick ‘Take My Hand’

It’s a real rags to riches story, but Mick Dimitri got his big break whilst waiting tables for Ed Sheeran in 2018. After hitting it off, Mick opened for Ed on his Divide tour, at the age of nineteen, alongside Zara Larsson and James Bay. Now older, the Italian singer-songwriter has released a new video for the title track of his new ep, Take My Hand, and we’re delighted to be able to premiere it right here on Backseat Mafia today.

Of the EP as a whole, Mick says, “the songs deal with loss or the fear of loss, and they all coexist within the same melancholic universe.” That’s certainly the case with Take My Hand, although the whole thing is brushed up, polished and given this smart pop sheen. Dimitri’s vocal is as warm and engaging as the melodies themselves, as the piano heavy opening melts into something funkier that belies its start.
