Premiere: Rustbelt lives in the moment on propulsive new single ‘Running Through the Rave’

With his (excellent) new EP arriving in January, John Chiaverina (previously known as Juiceboxxx and now going by Rustbelt)’s got a new lease on his creative life and sounds reinvigorated, even if he’s making markedly different stuff than what got him to this point. The title track has been out for a little while, and now he offers up a third taste in the form of the fantastic ‘Running Through the Rave’. Seriously, every song on there hits and this is no exception.

Commenting on his new single, Chiaverina says: “‘Running Thru The Rave’ is about going on tour way back in the ‘blog house’ era. I traveled all around the world, playing shows for kids who wore American Apparel and white sunglasses. I was very young. The song is a portrait of kids living inside of a certain window of life, a window that is by its very nature fleeting; a window that, when it closes, opens up more questions than answers. But nothing matters when you are running through the rave, not yet on the other end of it, living in a moment whose reverberations might curse you forever.”

We’re premiering the visualiser for the new song below. Good to know the Rustbelt-branded disposable cups are still kicking. You Got Nowhere to Go But You’re Going There Tonight EP lands on Friday January 19th 2024 via Dangerbird Records.
