See: FKA Twigs Teams up with filmmaker Hiro Murai for visuals for ‘Sad Day’

FKA Twigs has teamed up with acclaimed filmmaker Hiro Murai to produce a seven minute fantasy film to accompany her track Sad Day, one of the stand out moments from her recent second album Magdalene. It’s Murai’s first music video since his rightly lauded visuals for Childish Gambino’s ‘This Is America’.

As ever with FKA Twigs, Sad Day has full of glittering electronic R&B / pop, with Twigs vocal sitting like a sheen on top of synths, electronic hue and quivering melancholy. The video features FKA Twigs practising Wushu (martial arts), a discipline she studied with Master Wu of the Shaolin Wushu Centre. As she comments “everything I’ve previously done with my body, all the training and dancing, has led to this point.” Filmed in FKA twigs’ London hometown, it sees her “finding magic in the city I’ve lived in for over ten years” with the musician and filmmaker starring alongside co-star Teake – who she cast through social media – as they battle on the streets of London.
