Track: Boy In Space announces debut album and shares new single Who’s Crying When I’m Leaving?

Boy In Space has confirmed details of his long-awaited debut album, alongside the release of new single Who’s Crying When I’m Leaving? and a run of fresh tour dates. The track marks the next chapter for Swedish singer-songwriter Robin Lundbäck, returning to the Boy In Space moniker after a period of reflection and recalibration.

Built around delicate acoustic guitar, Who’s Crying When I’m Leaving? gradually opens out into a fuller arrangement, introducing driving drums, violin and subtle percussive touches. The song leans into Lundbäck’s recent pop-country influences while retaining the emotional directness that has defined his work to date. It’s a restrained build rather than a dramatic pivot, designed to let the sentiment settle rather than overwhelm.

Lyrically, the song centres on the quiet fallout of a life spent in transit. Lundbäck reflects on distance, detachment and the difficulty of sustaining relationships when movement becomes a constant. “I’ve had to learn how to let go and detach,” he explains, pointing to a gradual erosion rather than a dramatic break, and acknowledging the toll that lifestyle has taken on those around him.

That sense of reckoning runs through his recent output. Following the release of 2025 EP The Butterfly Affect, Lundbäck stepped back from touring to focus on songwriting and personal grounding. The forthcoming debut album, due later this year, captures that period of reassessment, recorded with a live band and favouring a warmer, more organic sound that foregrounds voice and vulnerability.

Having already amassed over half a billion streams through songs such as Cold and 7UP, Boy In Space now turns toward connection beyond the screen. A European headline tour this March will see him bring new material into shared rooms for the first time, reframing a career built online into something more immediate and human.
