Track: Cults return with new single ‘Spit you Out’

Cults, the collaboration between multi-instrumentalist/singer Madeline Follin and multi-instrumentalist Brian Oblivion, have returned with a new single ‘Spit it Out’ and a new outlook, driven by a new confidence from Follin in her own songwriting ability, with her saying in the past, I’d never brought my own music to the table because I was just too shy.”

Of the new track, the band say “On this single we tried on some of our more left field influences from the exotica sounds of Esquivel to Nine Inch Nails style heaviness. It focuses on parasitic relationships and breaking away from toxic patterns of interaction. We never imagined it would relate to a worldwide pandemic.

It veers between this alt-pop sound, off kilter melodies and static organ sounds are interrupted by this bubbling, insistent bassline. Over the top Follin lays down these pure pop melodies, her vocal seducing and beguiling.
