Track: Death Bells – Heavenly Bodies


At the core of Death Bells are an Australian duo who relocated to Los Angeles in 2018 and after an initial EP, signed on to Dais Records. They have just released the magnificent single ‘Heavenly Bodies’ in anticipation of their new album, ‘New Signs of Life’ due on 25 September 2020.

There is detectable a linkage to post-punk gothic overtones in this single, with its themes of the temporal nature of life. However expectations are somewhat overturned by a bright and melodic chorus that sparkles and pulsates.

Death Bells may be easily placed in the same musical box as Interpol and The Horrors due to singer Will Canning’s deep and sonorous delivery and the dark tones that emanate from the song, but they have a fresh creativity augmented by the shard-like guitars that punctuate the song:
