‘Blackwater Bay’ from the Dirty Suits is a deliciously dark slab of swampy attitude-laden rock that swaggers and rolls with a sneer and an elegantly posed raised eyebrow, delivered from the depths of a whiskey glass and soaked in regret.
The band says of the track:
Set in the dark country Blackwater Bay is the tale of a man trying to rescue his wife from an insidious
cult. Is it a salvage operation or a kidnapping? And exactly who is insidious? Led by a bass in 5’s and a wild guitar. This is an expedition of misplaced trust and entrapment.
With clear genetic links to fellow antipodeans Nick Cave and The Hoodoo Gurus, there is a deliciously louche approach, flavoured with excess and a wry delivery:

A classic example of the Marrickville sound, the band come from the Illawarra region and formed when two local surfers Matt Ayliffe and Peter Cunnington started jamming in 2020, joined later by Luke Brooks on drums.
