Track: At the drive in – Incurable Innocent

As if the excitement wasn’t enough with the news that At the Drive in are to release their first new album in 17 years, in • ter a • li • a, out on Rise Records on May 5th, or from the first track to be unveiled ‘Governed By Contagions’, the band have released a new track, Incurably Innocent. The album is the bands first since 2000’s Relationship of Command, and was produced by Omar Rodriguez-Lopez and Rich Costey at Hollywood’s Sound Factory

Described by vocalist Cedric Bixler-Zavala as “a song about sexual abuse and being able to finally speak out,” Incurably Innocent opens with this scything guitar riff and pummeling bass drum, before launching into classic At the Drive IN melodic punk, shards of this brittle guitar news crack around the vocal, as Bixler-Zavala delivers this immediately melodic vocal. A worthy addition to the cannon – bring on the album.

The release will be immediately followed by a new series of live dates beginning in At The Drive In’s native El Paso, Texas before heading to Europe and then (here’s the exciting bit) to the UK to play Reading and Leeds Festival in August.

Previous Track: Philippe Baden Powell - Chica
Next Track: The Bug Vs Earth - Snakes vs Rats
