Falle Nioke & Ghost Culture present new single ‘Loneliness’. Sang in Malinke and Coniagui this is the second track released from his forthcoming collaborative EP Youkounkoun released 10th July via PRAH Recordings. ‘Loneliness’ comes hot on the heels of debut single ‘Barké’ which we covered back in April here.

“I wrote this song because I have felt loneliness,” states Falle Nioke. “It’s about a man whose wife leaves the village to go to the big city to see family. Since experiencing city life she can’t face returning to the quiet village. He can’t sleep and any footsteps he hears he is looking for her. Yet when he goes to the door, all he sees is the moon and the stars.”

“So sad standing alone in the dark. I need you like the plants need the rain. Loneliness is a sickness, walking as two is the medicine.“

Featuring the same style of rhythmic singing that made ‘Barké’. ‘Loneliness’ starts with fast synths and hi-hat drum beat. The track is faster and lighter than ‘Barké’. The synths sound thinner like an 80’s console game but the music backing works so well with Nioke’s voice. He dips in and out sharing the space with a synth led melody that balances well with the vocals. It takes a couple more spins to really bed in into your conscious but so worth it. Another absolute cracker from this duo and leaves me wishing the time away till Nioke’s EP is released.
