News: Seb Adams Taps Into ‘Bittersweet Nostalgia’ with Passionate, Genre-Blending Second Album

Rising alt-rock artist Seb Adams returns with his highly anticipated second album ‘Bittersweet Nostalgia’.

An intimate, yet high-octane and energetic follow-up to his 2022 debut, ‘Between Awake & Fast Asleep’ ‘Bittersweet Nostalgia’ brings 90s pop-punk vibes and modern alt-rock. A sprawling, emotionally honest record that explores mental health, memory, and the winding path to self-discovery. For Adams, who self-produces all his music, the road to Bittersweet Nostalgia wasn’t straightforward. Following the momentum of his first album, he hit a creative wall.

“I was working on about ten tracks for the second album, but I wasn’t feeling it at all,” says Adams. “On a trip with my girlfriend, I pulled out my acoustic guitar and wrote ‘Long Gone’. It was then that I realized I needed to create music that inspired me again.”

That spark of inspiration reshaped the entire project. Instead of forcing tracks that didn’t resonate, Adams leaned into the music that shaped his youth, pulling from rock legends like Guns N’ Roses and Green Day, while also embracing modern influences such as twenty one pilots and Awolnation.

The vibrant aesthetic of Bittersweet Nostalgia is also deeply rooted in the pop culture that raised him: the pixelated energy of Guitar Hero III, the skate-punk rebellion of Skate 2, and the storytelling magic of Harry Potter, Tarzan (1999), and The Lion King (1994). These eclectic influences give rise to what Adams proudly describes as “Arcade Pop Punk”—a sonic experience that feels like rifling through old game cartridges and high school mixtapes at once.

At its core, though, Bittersweet Nostalgia is emotional terrain. “Good memories can suck after a while, and memories we considered terrible can show a silver lining after a while. This is the essence of, Bittersweet Nostalgia—a collection of letters to long-lost friends, beautiful strangers, and my younger self. Bittersweet Nostalgia is about finding beauty in the most unexpected places. It’s a journey through the good and bad of growing up, and how those experiences shape who we are.”

With nods to acts like Yungblud, Weezer, Jimmy Eat World, and Fall Out Boy, Adams has crafted a sound that both honors his roots and looks toward the future. His signature mix of guitars, ukuleles, pianos, and synths provides a textured backdrop for lyrics that are as candid as they are cathartic.

Bittersweet Nostalgia isn’t just a sophomore album—it’s a sonic coming-of-age story. With it, Seb Adams invites listeners not only to revisit their own pasts, but to find strength in them.
