Patrick Haid (Key Out), Saskia Clapton (The Great Emu War Casualties) and Nick Kennedy (Big Heavy Stuff, Imperial Broads and Knieval to name but a few), are Marlophone, and they have been drip-feeding us the most tastiest of morsels in the lead up to their debut album, the Wayne Connolly-produced album ’Remembered Adventures in Widescale’. It’s out on 14 August the wonderful Love As Fiction Records (AU) and Shore Dive Records (UK).
Out today is ‘Nintendo Era Hero’, another fuzzy feedback-driven thunder-laden blast with Haid’s dreamy vocals in the distance, surfing on the waves of sound. There is a bleeding melancholia throughout, Clapton providing delicate harmonies in the ether.
It’s another glorious track – bitter sweetness under the barbed wire delivery creating a glorious counterpoint:
