Track: Max Bloom – Thinking ‘bout you

Former Yuck man Max Bloom releases his debut solo album, Perfume, on April 24, and ahead of it today he’s released the fourth single from it, ‘Thinking ‘bout you. Of the song, Max says

“This song is about me looking back on my relationship, but having no regrets because it has made me a stronger person. When I was writing and recording this album, I was heavily influenced by Stoicism. A big part of Stoicism is about taking the adversity you face and using it to your advantage – in the case of this song, it was about taking the negativity of my relationship and turning into something positive.”

Moving away from the angular, distorted guitars that permeated his work with Yuck, Thinking ‘bout you is a uplifting slice of Costello like pop music, make all the more fun and funky with the brass interjections and loose, melodic feel. Despite the seemingly difficult nature of looking back over failed relationships, its a positive look ahead.

If you need cheering up, dive headlong into this.
