Track: Rivers Johansson – Devil’s Backbone

Jason Shipley

Rivers Johansson has released his new single Devil’s Backbone via Man Demolish Records. A song, or in the words of Rivers himself, a sermon about a person fallen from grace. A morality tale of lower nature vs the pursuit of the divine. The track is taken from Johansson’s forthcoming album Long Way Down
(One Last Thing).

The infectious riff and Johansson’s gravelly drawl draw you in as the slow groove works its way into your head and stays there all day. With some smoking slide playing and powerful phrasing from Johansson and his whisky stained vocals it’s a welcome return for the Yorkshireman. For those that want their blues dirty and smouldering, then this track will scratch your itch.
