TRACK: Tacsidermi – ‘Gwlr’: a glide of blurry Welsh psych

GWENLLIAN ANTHONY, bassist, keys wizard and more with Carmarthen’s award-winning indie outfit Adwaith has, on and off, over the past few years, been jamming and writing with Matthew Kilgariff, who’s been touring member of Gwenllian’s home band, a little creative side gig; but as 2020 stuck out its viral tongue and thumbed its nose at the normal, accepted course of things, and with that new concept of living, ‘lockdown’, entering the lingua franca, they formed a bubble, moved into Matthew’s studio in rural Carmarthenshire and started recording.

The first fruits from way, way out west have just dropped in the form of “Gwir”, their debut single. We’ve got a SoundCloud embed of it, down there after the words.

It’s a lovely slice of that thing they do so well over the twin bridges these days; psychedelia. It’s a little baggy, has a lot of that effortless retro-futurist glide of Gwenno, gorgeous vocals; the seductive haze of Gulp. It’s blissful and fully technicolour. Yummy. Please sir, can we have some more?

Expect new Tacsidermi material to follow in early 2021.

Follow Tacsidermi over at Libertino Records, and on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.
