Tove Lo continues to unveil the world of her forthcoming sixth album ESTRUS with the release of the striking video for des fleurs, a captivating collaboration with Belgian creative powerhouse Stromae. Directed by French filmmaker Melchior Leroux, the visual expands the emotional and cinematic scope of one of the album’s standout tracks, pairing two of Europe’s most inventive pop artists in a work that is as immersive as it is intimate.

The dreamlike clip mirrors the song’s emotional tension, balancing vulnerability with surreal visual storytelling. Tove Lo’s fearless lyricism intertwines seamlessly with Stromae’s theatrical precision, creating a collaboration that feels less like a guest appearance and more like the meeting of two singular artistic worlds.

des fleurs offers another glimpse of ESTRUS, due for release on September 18. The record finds Tove Lo pushing deeper into the emotional honesty that has defined her career, exploring the contradictions between desire and restraint, euphoria and melancholy. Recorded between Los Angeles, Stockholm and the Swedish fishing village where she spent much of her childhood, the album revisits formative memories while embracing the propulsive electronic sound that has long been central to her music.

Since breaking through with her platinum-selling 2014 debut Queen of the Clouds, Tove Lo has become one of modern pop’s most distinctive voices. Global hits including Habits (Stay High) and Talking Body established her uncompromising lyrical style, while subsequent albums Lady Wood, Blue Lips, Sunshine Kitty and Dirt Femme expanded her reputation as an artist unafraid to blur the boundaries between emotional confession and euphoric pop. Alongside her solo career, she has collaborated with artists including Flume, Charli XCX, Coldplay, Alesso and Nick Jonas, while also building an impressive songwriting résumé with credits for Lorde, Zara Larsson and Ellie Goulding’s global smash Love Me Like You Do.

Stromae brings an equally formidable creative legacy to the collaboration. Since exploding onto the international stage with Alors on danse and his landmark debut Cheese, the Belgian artist has redefined francophone pop by seamlessly weaving together rap, electronic music, afrobeat and chanson. His critically acclaimed albums Racine Carrée and Multitude have sold millions worldwide, while his multidisciplinary creative collective Mosaert has extended his influence into fashion, design and visual art. Beyond his own catalogue, Stromae has directed acclaimed videos for artists including Dua Lipa and Billie Eilish, further cementing his reputation as one of Europe’s most innovative creative figures.

The release arrives as Tove Lo prepares to launch the ESTRUS Tour across North America this September, with Australian artist Mallrat supporting the North American dates, Cobrah joining the New York performance and Rose Gray accompanying the UK and European leg before further touring continues into 2027.

With des fleurs, Tove Lo and Stromae demonstrate why they remain two of pop’s most adventurous artists. The collaboration refuses easy categorisation, embracing emotional complexity and visual ambition in equal measure while offering an enticing preview of what ESTRUS has in store.
