Swedish singer songwriter Bonander, aka Ellinor Sterner Bonander, recently released her brilliant debut album ‘Things We Don’t Talk About’, following on from singles Martha Gone in the Wind and Backseat – and she has done a exclusive live session from us here at Backseat Mafia of the latter.

Stripped down to just the piano and her extraordinary voice, Ellinor’s version of the track is spellbinding, the soft ripples of piano interjecting with her vocal as she shows the same sort of quality of songwriting of the likes of Kate Bush, albeit with a darker hue.

The album, cinematic, stark, playful and emotive, came out via Icons Creating Evil Art on September 10th, is smart femme-power pop, and includes tracks such as Annie, a homage to the first female sniper, and Ms. Mitchell, in celebration of one of the first acknowledged astronomers Maria Mitchell.

Check out the session version of Backseat below, and please subscribe, like, share and comment so we can continue to bring you the very best in new and established artists in our sessions.
