A gifted composer, guitarist and vocalist, Icelandic-Norwegian musician LILJA (Oddrun Lilja Jonsdottir) has been making waves on the Oslo jazz scene with her band, an innovative, multifaceted ensemble that encompasses sounds from around the globe, tonight she plays the ACO as part of the Sydney Festival.
To date, she has released two critically-acclaimed albums ‘Marble’ (2020) and ‘Mirage’ (2023.)
From the moment that she takes the stage, LILJA and her band captivate the audience. She tells how much they are enjoying the Sydney heat, it was freezing in Europe when they left, she says. Each song is a journey, as LILJA and her band twist and turn the melodies so that the audience is hanging on every note, riding the waves of LILJA’s sound. It’s a wonderful and profound journey.
