Track: Her’s – Dorothy

Talking about Dorothy, the debut single from Liverpool based Her’s, which is out tomorrow on Heist or Hit, the band say “It was one of the first songs we wrote together, but it came together really quick somehow. Steve brought the chords and some ideas for a melody over to mine late one night. We got a drumbeat going, doused it in delay and I suddenly found myself mashing away at the bass and that was basically it. That was just the way it seemed like it needed to be, It all made sense at the time.”

Dorothy is steeped in dreamy indie pop, with Stevens distinctive baritone bringing a touch of the gothic while there’s this almost (at least initially) Marr like guitar work that wraps itself around the melody, while Audun’s backing vocal is beautifully fragile. There’s elements of 4AD in there as well, as it wrings every last bit of melancholy out of itself.

Fans of the physical can pick the single up as a limited edition (of 50) hand-painted 7” vinyl, released on 6th May. Meanwhile, the duo are doing a handful of dates. Details below.
