News: Amyl and The Sniffers, BARKAA and Xiao Xiao lead all-female-fronted Golden Hour 2027

Bondi Beach is about to get loud. Amyl and The Sniffers will headline Golden Hour 2027 on Thursday 4 March, bringing their notoriously wild live show to Australia’s most famous stretch of sand for what promises to be their biggest Australian performance yet.

Following a sold-out debut earlier this year, Fuzzy’s beachside concert series returns with an all-female-fronted lineup. Joining the Melbourne punk heavyweights are Malyangapa and Barkindji rapper BARKAA and Western Sydney post-punk outfit Xiao Xiao, making for a formidable afternoon of Australian music.

Fronted by the irrepressible Amy Taylor, Amyl and The Sniffers have gone from Melbourne sharehouse beginnings to international festival stages, tearing through Glastonbury, Coachella and Primavera along the way. Their 2024 album Cartoon Darkness pushed them further into the international spotlight, while four ARIA wins in 2025 and recent Grammy and BRIT nominations cemented their standing as one of Australia’s biggest rock exports. Now they’re bringing that raw, unpredictable energy to Bondi.

BARKAA is no stranger to commanding a huge crowd. The acclaimed First Nations rapper has built a reputation for uncompromising lyrics and performances that confront politics, identity and inequality head-on. With award-winning releases Blak Matriarchy and Big Tidda behind her, she’s become one of the most compelling voices in Australian hip hop.

Rounding out the bill are Xiao Xiao, the Western Sydney four-piece whose collision of post-punk, rap, club music and trip-hop has been turning heads well beyond the underground. With just two singles, Left, Right and Tips, they’ve already collected three fbi Radio SMAC Awards and established themselves as a band worth watching.

Golden Hour is also making an effort to keep ticket prices within reach. A $99.90 affordability ticket returns for eligible concession holders and students, alongside discounted MobTix for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander audiences. Waverley residents get first access through a locals presale beginning Tuesday 20 October at 10am AEDT.

The festival’s 2027 artwork has been created by Warumungu/Wombaya artist Jessica Johnson of Nungala Creative, bringing another strong First Nations presence to the event.

After Crowded House helped bring major live music back to Bondi Beach earlier this year, Golden Hour is taking a very different direction for its second outing. Three acts, three distinct sounds and one of Sydney’s most spectacular outdoor settings. Bondi’s summer farewell is getting a serious punk-rock kick.
