Chinese-Australian singer, songwriter, violinist and model ANDI has released Still Believe in Love, a cinematic and emotionally honest album that moves through heartbreak, desire, identity and the difficult decision to remain open after love falls apart.
Rather than presenting love as something that survives untouched, Still Believe in Love explores what happens afterwards: the emotional wreckage, the questions of identity and the choice not to let pain harden into cynicism. Across twelve tracks, ANDI traces a journey through hope, self-erasure, heartbreak, anger, desire, surrender and release, allowing the album to evolve from an idealised vision of love into a confrontation with everything capable of breaking it.
The record’s title captures that tension in a single line: “Maybe I was broken, maybe I’m still broken but I still believe in love.”
Born in Australia to a Chinese family, ANDI began studying violin at the age of four before taking up vocals and dance at eight. His artistic path has since taken him from Australia to Europe, South Korea and the United States, exposing him to classical training, contemporary pop culture and distinctly different creative environments. Those experiences converge on Still Believe in Love, his most personal body of work to date.
The album moves between vulnerability and confrontation. ‘Stranger in the Mirror’ and ‘I Didn’t Lose You’ examine the disorientation that can follow the collapse of a relationship, while ‘Fine Without You’ turns towards defiance. Elsewhere, ‘Heartbeat’, ‘Love Me Right Now’ and ‘Blow Me Away’ explore desire with a sensual intensity that prevents the record from becoming a conventional breakup album.
At the heart of the project is ‘Take Care’, a song that rejects revenge or theatrical closure in favour of something quieter. Its central sentiment, “Take care of yourself. Without me.”, offers tenderness without attempting to reclaim what has already ended.
That perspective gives the album its emotional centre. On Still Believe in Love, love is not measured solely by whether a relationship survives. Instead, ANDI considers whether tenderness can remain after permanence has failed, and whether it is possible to walk away without erasing everything that once mattered.
Creating the album was itself a demanding chapter in ANDI’s artistic development. Across multiple sessions, he pushed through an average of more than 400 takes per track in pursuit of performances that matched the sound and emotion he had envisioned. After spending thousands of dollars on sessions with major-label producers, he found that although the recordings had become polished and technically refined, something essential had been lost. The intimate, close-mic emotion and raw connection at the centre of his original vision were no longer coming through.
Rather than compromise, ANDI made the decision to take the project back into his own hands and reproduce the entire album himself. The process became an exercise in experimentation, persistence and creative control, with each song requiring him to reconsider what he wanted the record to communicate.
The resulting album is less concerned with technical perfection than with authenticity. Every track carries the imprint of the process behind it, from the countless hours spent refining performances to the willingness to start again when a recording no longer felt true.
That experience has made Still Believe in Love more than a collection of songs about the aftermath of a relationship. It documents an artist reclaiming his creative voice while confronting some of the most complicated emotions that come with love, loss and self-discovery.
