News: August Burns Red Confirm First Australian Headline Run in Seven Years

August Burns Red have announced a return to Australia and New Zealand for September and October 2026, marking their first headline run in Australia in seven years and their first New Zealand shows in over a decade. The Season Of Surrender Tour will begin in Perth on 27 September, moving through Adelaide, Melbourne, Sydney and Newcastle, before continuing to Wellington and Auckland.

The tour aligns with the release of their tenth studio album, Season Of Surrender, due June 5 via Fearless Records. Across more than two decades, the Pennsylvania band have built a consistent presence within metalcore, combining technical precision with a structured approach to songwriting that has carried them through multiple Billboard Top 200 entries and more than 600 million streams. Two Grammy nominations, for Identity (2016) and Invisible Enemy (2018), have also marked their broader recognition.

Live performance remains central to their position. Their most recent Australian visit in 2023, supporting Polaris, reinforced a reputation for disciplined, high-intensity sets built around a catalogue that spans their full career. This upcoming run is expected to follow a similar approach, while incorporating material from the new record.

Support across the tour reflects a focus on newer acts within the heavier spectrum. Bloom will join all dates, continuing their recent run of national headline shows and international touring. On Australian dates, I Promised The World will make their local debut, bringing material shaped by a blend of screamo, Midwest emo and post-hardcore influences.

With dates confirmed across both countries, the tour positions itself as a continuation of August Burns Red’s long-term engagement with the region, rather than a one-off return, tied directly to the next phase of their recorded output.
