News: Bambie Thug releases new EP ‘CATHEXIS’ and immersive London headline show this Halloween

East-London based artist Bambie Thug (They/Them/Fae) releases their brand-new EP “CATHEXIS”, out now via their independent label ‘HAUS OF THUG’.

Following the release of joint A-side singles ‘Careless’ and ‘Last Summer (I Know What You Did)’ Ft. Jinka earlier this year, Bambie Thug returns with their spellbinding new EP ‘CATHEXIS’. Showcasing their effortless ability to explore genres and sound worlds, the 7-track EP features several new tracks including the venomous ‘Bye Boy’, vampire ballad ‘Love Bites’, and a beautifully stripped version of previous single ‘Last Summer’. Sharing a more vulnerable side to themselves, the EP details the heartbreak that came in the aftermath of their last failed relationship.

Talking about the EP’s meaning, Bambie says: “Cathexis is emotional investment in another, being deeply drawn to someone for how they make you feel. Many people who are cathecting will claim they are in love even when they are emotionally neglectful or abusive to a partner. When things aren’t going how they’d like, it is easier for them to wipe their hands clean of things and end the relationship because they were in Cathexis not Love. Love is the will to nurture and support the spiritual wellbeing and growth of another. You cannot claim to be in love if your actions do not match the definition. This project is about me realising that I was in love and that he was only in Cathexis.”

The EP is also accompanied by a stunning cinematic video for new single ‘Love Bites’. Directed by Violetta Coretnic, the heart wrenching vampire themed visual sees Bambie beautifully stripped back in a white gown as they dine, dance and mourn over past lovers, before ultimately meeting their demise from their bite. The striking video is Bambie’s most ambitious to date and references the likes of Beauty and the Beast, Twilight, the old graininess of Carl Theodor Dreyer’s ‘Vampr’ and more. The video was entirely funded by Road Hounds, who are aiming to bring rock and alternative music into the metaverse via Rock’n’Roll 3.0 and stars Ray Noir, Danny Campbell Fox and Igor Laskyi.

To celebrate the EP’s release, Bambie will play a huge headline London show at Hackney’s Oslo on Halloween (October 31st). The immersive Halloween show will feature a host of theatrical performers, cabaret style dancers and actors, with confirmed supports including Jinka, Storm St.Claire, Surya Sen, Callum Crighton (DJ Set) and more. Tickets are on sale now here.
