News: Barton Hartshorn Unveils Emotive, Beautifully Constructed New Single ‘Sister Bird’

Barton Hartshorn returns with the emotive alternative-rock sweller ‘Sister Bird’, offering an inviting look at the upcoming EP ‘Everything…’.

Delving into an emotional soundscape, guiding listeners through a rich tapestry of intricate arrangements, overlapping motifs and strummed acoustics that unfold gradually, the track is a beautifully constructed radiant example of Barton Hartshorn’s sonic approach.

As ‘Sister Bird’ unfurls, Barton masterfully crafts a musical narrative that oscillates between light and dark, inviting listeners on a journey of introspection and contemplation. The addition of new instruments enriches the sonic landscape, creating an ebb and flow that resonates with profound melancholy. The subtle evolution of the music draws listeners into a boundless realm of shimmering possibility, where every note is imbued with meaning and emotion.

Accompanying the release is a mesmerising video that continues the narrative thread initiated by the previous single ‘The King of My Undoing’. Barton provides insight into the video’s connection to the broader upcoming ‘Everything…’ EP storyline: “The King has finished his speech, finished his ice-cream & stopped waving his spoon around. He needs to sleep it off. Let’s leave him there & walk along the sea front, pick a door that looks like home & walk in. There’s a voice in this quiet place, a woman’s voice. She’s saying something about better times. Think I’ll stay here for a while. Will you leave a light on for me?”

Rooted in the English Village of the same name where he grew up, Barton Hartshorn draws inspiration from his upbringing, steeped in the tradition of folk music heard in local clubs. Remaining true to the storytelling essence of his roots, Barton’s musical journey has taken him from fronting the band Dictafone to establishing himself as a solo artist with a penchant for crafting evocative narratives through song.
