News: Boo Seeka Joins The Midnight for Australian Tour Dates

American synthwave duo The Midnight are weeks away from returning to Australia, bringing their Time Machines headline tour to Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney this January and February. Emerging from Los Angeles over a decade ago, the project built by Tyler Lyle and Tim McEwan has steadily expanded from a cult favourite into one of the most fully realised acts to come out of the synthwave scene.

Last year’s Syndicate, the band’s fifth studio album, marked a clear shift in scope. While still rooted in neon-lit imagery and analogue warmth, the record leans outward, pairing motorik synths with a more reflective lyrical approach. The Midnight’s music has always traded in atmosphere rather than narrative, favouring suggestion and memory over plot, but Syndicate sharpens that instinct, presenting a sound that feels cinematic without leaning entirely on nostalgia.

Joining them across all three Australian dates is Boo Seeka, whose music occupies a different emotional register while sharing a similar commitment to mood. The Gold Coast-based project blends soulful vocals with organic textures and electronic production, writing songs that sit comfortably between introspection and accessibility. Over the past decade, Boo Seeka has built a loyal following through consistent releases, strong radio support and a reputation as a compelling live act.

The pairing feels deliberate rather than decorative. Where The Midnight build widescreen worlds from synthesizers and imagery, Boo Seeka’s work focuses inward, grounding electronic music in vulnerability and restraint. Together, they offer a bill shaped by tone and feeling rather than genre boundaries.

The tour opens at Brisbane’s Fortitude Music Hall on Thursday January 29, continues to Melbourne’s Forum on Saturday January 31, and concludes at Sydney’s Roundhouse on Sunday February 1. Tickets are on sale now.
