Borderline, the Auckland four-piece have announced an Australian tour this July in support of their debut album, bringing their restless blend of indie rock, pop hooks and groove-heavy energy to Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne.
What makes Borderline feel interesting isn’t just the speed of their rise, but how naturally it seems to have happened. The band members — Ben Glanfield, Jackson Boswell, Matthew McFadden and Max Harries — have been making music together since childhood, which helps explain the loose chemistry running through their songs. Even when the band shift between glossy indie-pop, funk-inflected rhythms and bigger festival-sized choruses, there’s still a sense of instinct holding it all together rather than calculation.
