News: Campana Shines On ‘ROPE’ From New Album ‘READY FOR MORE’

Seattle artist Campana makes a stirring return with the new single ‘ROPE’, the closing track and stand out form the new album READY FOR MORE.

A distinct genre-blending single that threads Hip Hop, R&B, and jazz-funk the single highlights the musicality and lyrical prowess which stylises the full album. A soulful exploration of love and emotional resilience featuring the powerhouse vocals of Dave Shanaé and a standout verse from Dave B., ‘ROPE’ sways its way forward over its jiving beat, muted guitar lines and well placed flute samples to create a compelling, musically inventive yet wholly accessible and danceable groove.

Built around the refrain “You make me better,” the track uses the image of a rope as a metaphor for emotional anchoring—a partner who offers stability through moments of mental chaos, miscommunication, and insecurity. It’s a song that wears its heart openly, balancing vulnerability with strength, and reflective storytelling with a magnetic groove. Campana’s lyrics pull listeners into a headspace that’s both deeply personal and widely relatable, elevated by dynamic production and smooth instrumentation that nods to artists like Smino, Noname, and Kendrick Lamar, while remaining unmistakably his own.

“This song is about what it means to be held emotionally—especially in moments when your inner world is chaotic,” Campana shares. “It’s about gratitude for the person who pulls you back to center when you’re unraveling.”

As a solo artist, Campana has continued to evolve, carving out a space defined by artistic risk and emotional honesty. His 2021 solo debut Matter of Time—written and produced during the pandemic—was named one of The Seattle Times’ “Top 16 Albums of 2021.” Its accompanying short film earned the Audience Award at Black Film Fest ATL and received recognition on the national festival circuit. His work has since reached global audiences through sync placements in Donald Glover’s Atlanta and the upcoming Issa Rae-produced film One of Them Days, starring Keke Palmer and SZA.
