Swansea four-piece rockers The Stray Pursuit channel angst ridden anthemic alt-rock in the new single ‘Mess with My Head’.
Equal parts catchy and energetic, the track displays an accessible and relentlessly catchy songwriting style underpinned by a tight, guitar led backdrop. With thick walls of guitars, pounding drums, tight bass and a stellar vocal performance that teeters between vulnerability and strong defiance, ‘Mess with My Head’ is an elegant and addictive pop-rock fizzer.
Rich with some elegant, soaring guitar work and thick Foo Fighters-esque tones, the track comes complete with an epic guitar solo at the two minute mark. Musically bold, catchy and intense, lyrically it digs into the mental chaos of overthinking and relationship toxicity, without ever losing its sense of melody.
The four-piece consists of lead singer Aaron Morgan, lead guitarist Dylan Cooney, bassist Fred Wilkinson, and drummer Ben Lewis. Having opened for Andrew Cushin, The K’s, and Vida, and played alongside The Lottery Winners, Pastel, and Trampoline just to name a few.
The band’s origin story traces back to an unexpected bus ride that led Aaron and Fred to forge an unexpected bond. Despite being rivals in separate bands, their chemistry became undeniable during a jam session. The additions of exceptional talents lead guitarist Dylan and drummer Nicky solidified the lineup. Tragedy struck when founding drummer Nicky Bevan passed away in December 2022. They say “The devastating loss catalysed a renewed purpose for the band: to honour Nicky’s legacy and prove our potential for greatness. He is missed dearly, and will be forever cherished by so many people.”
