Australian heavy rock favourites Cog are coming out of the studio and heading straight back to the stage. The Sydney trio have announced three December shows across Queensland and northern New South Wales, bringing their annual holiday run back for another round.

After spending much of 2026 at Key Sound Studios in Byron Bay working on new material, Cog are ready to turn up the volume. The band will hit Booval on 11 December, the Sunshine Coast on 12 December and Byron Bay on 18 December, marking their final live appearances for the year.

Joining them for all three shows are Brisbane progressive rock outfit Kodiak Empire, with Elko Fields opening in Booval and on the Sunshine Coast. Jackrabbit will kick things off in Byron Bay.

The announcement follows a busy stretch for Cog, who toured extensively in support of their latest single, Walk The Line. The track picked up airplay on Double J and reminded fans that the band still have plenty to say, both musically and politically.

Formed in Sydney in the late ’90s, Cog built their reputation on heavy riffs, shifting rhythms and a refusal to follow the usual rock formula. Early releases Pseudo and Just Visiting laid the groundwork, but it was 2005’s The New Normal that established them as a major force in Australian alternative rock.

Their 2008 follow-up, Sharing Space, went Gold, while appearances at Big Day Out, Falls Festival and Homebake helped cement their reputation as a formidable live act.

Following a five-year hiatus, Cog returned in 2016 to sold-out crowds and have barely slowed down since. New singles, national tours and the long-awaited vinyl releases of their albums have kept the trio firmly on the radar.

Now, with fresh music taking shape behind the scenes, these December dates offer fans one final chance to catch Cog live before the year is out.

And if their recent shows are anything to go by, expect plenty of volume, precision and the kind of muscular grooves that have kept audiences coming back for more than two decades.
