Naethan Apollo is heading back Down Under, and he’s bringing a whole new chapter with him. Following a near sold-out Australian debut earlier this year, the American genre-bender has announced a five-date national tour for May 2027.
The Iowa-born artist will hit Perth, Adelaide, Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane, armed with new material from his latest album, WHAT IF I EXPLODED?, released earlier this month.
Part rapper, part folk storyteller and part fantasy-world architect, Apollo doesn’t fit neatly into any musical category. Think Dungeons & Dragons colliding with Hobo Johnson, with a healthy dose of pop hooks, spoken-word storytelling and theatrical chaos thrown in.
It’s an unusual formula, but it’s working. With more than 200 million streams and 1.4 million TikTok followers, Apollo has turned his elaborate fictional worlds and character-driven songs into a rapidly growing international following.
His 2025 album Tales From Cazilor: Wyldflowers takes listeners deep into a universe of invented characters and interconnected stories. But there’s more to Apollo than fantasy. Tracks such as SAME OLD STORY and ICE BREAKERtackle social injustice and the political climate in the United States, proving he’s just as interested in the real world as the ones he creates.
Raised in Solon, Iowa, Apollo cut his teeth playing basement shows while studying graphic design at Iowa State University. That DIY background still runs through his music and live performances, where audience participation and storytelling are as important as the songs themselves.
With a brand-new record to draw from and a successful Australian debut behind him, Apollo’s second visit promises another unpredictable trip through his musical universe.
