News: Dream Pop Mainstays Men I Trust Confirm Australian Dates

Canadian trio Men I Trust have confirmed their return to Australia, announcing a run of local dates as part of their Equus tour. It’s a welcome reappearance from a band whose quiet consistency and self-directed momentum have made them one of indie music’s most quietly influential success stories of the past decade.

Formed in Quebec City in 2014, Men I Trust have always moved at their own pace. Self-releasing every record in their catalogue, the band has built a body of work that resists hype while steadily expanding its reach. Across six studio albums, from their early self-titled release through to cult favourite Oncle Jazz and the more recent twin releases Equus Asinus and Equus Caballus, their sound has remained recognisable without ever feeling static. Hypnotic melodies, gently unfurling grooves and Emmanuelle Proulx’s understated vocal delivery sit at the centre of it all, blurring the edges between dream pop, indie, lo-fi and soft-focus R&B.

The Equus era has already taken the band across Europe, North America, Asia and Canada, as well as onto major stages supporting Billie Eilish. Bringing that material to Australia feels like a natural next step, especially as these records deepen the band’s interest in texture and atmosphere rather than reinvention. There is a patience to Men I Trust’s music that translates powerfully in a live setting, songs unfolding slowly and inviting the audience into their internal logic rather than demanding immediate release.
