Field Day is returning to The Domain on New Year’s Day 2027, with Major Lazer, Sub Focus and a still-secret second headliner sitting at the top of a lineup stretching from drum & bass and electro to UK garage, house, techno and hyperpop.
The January 1 gathering also lands during a milestone year for promoter Fuzzy, which celebrates its 30th anniversary in 2027. Field Day itself has occupied The Domain for more than 25 years, drawing over half a million people through the gates and hosting everyone from RÜFÜS DU SOL, The xx and Disclosure to Tame Impala, Solange, Flume and Dom Dolla.
Major Lazer’s appearance is particularly significant. The Diplo-led group return to Australia for the first time in 11 years, with Walshy Fire, Ape Drums and vocalist America Foster joining him following a 2026 that has already included the Winter Olympics Closing Ceremony and a return to Coachella. A catalogue containing ‘Lean On’, ‘Cold Water’ and ‘Light It Up’ gives Field Day some substantial New Year’s Day ammunition.
Sub Focus brings a very different strain of dancefloor euphoria. The British producer’s fourth album ‘Contact’ stretches drum & bass towards electro, trance and dancehall, with collaborators including Grimes, John Summit, Katy B and Fireboy DML. ‘Push The Tempo’, meanwhile, gave him his first number one on US dance radio.
The drum & bass contingent gets another serious heavyweight in Andy C. The RAM Records co-founder has been behind the decks since the genre’s formative years, and his famously fast triple-deck mixing remains a benchmark for DJs who have followed in his wake.
Elderbrook adds his combination of electronics and songwriting, while Boys Noize brings decades of electro pedigree and a CV that stretches from his Dog Blood partnership with Skrillex to collaborations with Frank Ocean and Nine Inch Nails. The latter relationship recently took him on the road supporting Nine Inch Nails across their Peel It Back tour.
Further down the bill, Field Day starts digging into some of the most interesting corners of contemporary club music. Hannah Laing arrives from Scotland with her high-velocity take on trance and techno, while Funk Tribu brings the nu-trance sound that has carried him from Bogotá to Tomorrowland, EDC Las Vegas and Awakenings.
UK garage gets plenty of attention too. Oppidan continues her increasingly fluid movement between 2-step and 4×4, MPH brings the bassline pressure, Joe Hunt arrives with considerable momentum behind ‘Up To No Good’, and nimino moves between house, garage and hip-hop following the breakout success of ‘I Only Smoke When I Drink’. Berlin-based southstar adds another collision of techno and trap following the ‘Sun FM’ EP.
Santa Barbara trio Łaszewo bring ‘Til U Hate Me’ and debut album ‘In Color’, while Dutch producer Julian Fijma heads towards the deeper end of underground house. Sydney’s Club Angel keeps things closer to home with his mixture of UK speed garage and hard house after a run of international dates and Australian headline shows.
The Australian contingent runs much deeper. Cassette, Stacie Fields, Latifa Tee, Disco Dora, Fried Pork Chop and Loosie Grind represent different corners of Sydney’s club ecosystem, while Melbourne’s 2charm arrive following their Ninajirachi-produced debut ‘Star Scum City’. TANZER brings her collision of disco, performance and glamour, and Wiradjuri duo Tiddalicious weave culture, community and storytelling through their sets.
Also scattered across the three stages are Wolters, mad.day and Tiff Cornish, alongside a lineup designed to keep Field Day firmly planted in dance music rather than drifting towards the broader multi-genre festival model.
The Casamigos Camp Ground also returns in 2027, curated by the LGBTQIA+ community and providing its own corner of The Domain across the day.
Fuzzy is also introducing a $99.90 plus fees ticket allocation specifically for people aged 18 to 25. The initiative is aimed at a generation whose formative years of gigs, festivals and nightlife were interrupted by the COVID pandemic. The ticket ballot opens at 12pm AEST on Wednesday, September 2 and closes at 11:59pm AEST on Sunday, September 6.
Presale tickets become available at 12pm AEST on Wednesday, September 9, followed by general admission tickets at 12pm AEST on Thursday, September 10.
