HORSEGIRL RELEASE
‘HISTORY LESSON PART 2’
(MINUTEMEN COVER)

DEBUT ALBUM
VERSIONS OF MODERN PERFORMANCE
OUT NOW VIA MATADOR

Horsegirl has had a stellar year. Versions of Modern Performance, out now on Matador, “is such a realised debut that it may itself influence a later generation down the road” (Ringer, Best Albums of 2022 So Far). It received glowing praise from The New York Times, The Guardian, Crack, MOJO, The Observer, NME, Dork, DIY, and plenty more. Following their first UK tour including four sold-out London shows, a debut performance at Glastonbury, their single ‘Option 8’ being playlisted at BBC 6 Music, an inaugural North American tour which included a sold-out hometown show at Thalia Hall and an opening slot for Pavement in New York, the Chicago-based trio now release their cover of Minutemen’s ‘History Lesson Part 2’. While only available via a 7” in the past, that being the B-side of Billy, the song is now available digitally for the first time today. Listen HERE.

‘History Lesson Part 2’ has always been a punk manifesto for us,” says Horsegirl. “It was an unusual pick to cover considering the lyrics are so specific to Minutemen, but we thought there was something appealing too about recording a ‘History Lesson’ that doesn’t actually give you any history on us.”

Irish based concert photographer, maybe! ever so slightly addicted to gigs. Listens mostly to alternative / goth / folk punk / punk / ska. I blame the 80s.
