News: Icelandic ambient dream gods Sigur Rós add Australia and New Zealand to world tour as they record first studio album since 2013’s ‘Kveilkur’


The legendary Sigur Rós have announced they will be extending their 2022 world tour to Australia and New Zealand, gracing antipodean shores for the first time after five long years. The Icelandic band are set to play shows in Auckland, Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne and will come armed with new music, along with material from their acclaimed 25-year discography.

The band are coming out of hibernation and are in the process of writing and recording their first studio album since ‘Kveikur’ in 2013. Former keyboardist Kjartan Sveinsson has announced he has re-joined the band after stepping away to focus on other projects almost a decade ago. Tour details are below.

Sigur Rós both live and on record are simply majestic: they have an unerring ability to construct the most incredible breathtaking sonic architecture that is impossible beautiful and immersive. A band that has somehow captured the essence of Iceland itself: mystical, beautiful, awe-inspiring and cinematic.
