News: Iconic guitarist Ashley Naylor (The Church, Even, Paul Kelly) reveals new solo instrumental album and single ‘Spaceship’.

Ashley Naylor is a bit of a guitar god. Not only is he at the helm of the super jangle pop gods Even, a feature player in the Rockwiz Orchestra on the Rockwiz program on SBS TV (seemingly able to turn his hand to reproduce any guitar riff imaginable, note for note) but now is an integral part of the rejuvenated legends The Church with songwriting credits on the acclaimed new album ‘The Hypnogogue’ (and getting rave reviews on tour).

It’s therefore a very pleasant surprise to announce that Naylor is releasing an instrumental album (his second) through El Reno Music. And to add to the pleasure, he has just released the first single off the album – ‘Spaceship’.

‘Spaceship’ is a funky high-stepping piece with thrilling guitar riffs carving swathes in the sky above a jaunty splashing instrumentation of wandering bass, chunky rhythm guitars and a trilling organ bedrock base:

‘Spaceship’ is launched today and available through all the usual download and streaming sites.

The album, ‘Soundtracks Volume 2’, is out on 20 October 2023 and is Naylor’s second volume of instrumental guitar music and his first solo release since Even’s acclaimed 2021 ARIA Top 20 Double album Reverse Light Years (nominated by Backseat Mafia as one of our favourite albums of 2021).

‘Soundtracks Volume 2’ will be available for pre-order on the El Reno Music Bandcamp site on October 6 (which, by the way, is a Bandcamp Friday).
