News: J. Zunz announces EU/UK tour dates for the winter

J. ZUNZ, the solo alias of Lorelle and The Obsolete’s Lorena Quintanilla, released her highly-praised second album Hibiscus on Rocket Recordings last year (also appearing on our list of 2020’s greatest albums) – utilising ominously stirring drone, interspersed with poetically and sparsely articulated, but incalculably cathartic vocals; with Krautrocky cycles of mellifluous synth adding bountiful miles to the cinematic nature of the record.

Though Hibiscus had notes of Angelo Badalementi’s ghostly raptures, the sombre sentimentality of Nico’s Marble Index or the sci-fi psychedelia of Fifty Foot Hose, Lorena fuelled the record with her very own distinctive sonic markers. This too was entirely separate from not only her work with Lorelle Meets The Obsolete, but also her debut solo album of guitar-laden synth work – Hibiscus instead an alchemical concoction centering on a less-is-more, cerebral, psychic assault.

Today, J. Zunz has announced her EU/UK 2021 tour dates, in support of Hibiscus. The tour encompasses, among other stops, Bristol, Manchester, London, and Todmorden in the UK; taking in Antwerp, Copenhagen, Prague, Budapest and more elsewhere in Europe. Full tour dates below.

Revisit the videos for “Four Women and Darkness”, and Y, or listen to the album here.

Tickets to the London and Manchester shows are here; the Newcastle show is here; tickets for the Bristol show are available here; and the Birkenhead gig, here. Click here for the full info and links to all of the J. Zunz tour dates, with the tickets updated when they become available.
