News: Laneway Festival returns in 2027 with Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne and Auckland dates

Laneway Festival is changing course for 2027, with the much-loved touring festival revealing a new route that will see Sydney kick off proceedings for the first time.

The 2027 edition begins at Centennial Park on Friday, February 12, before moving to Brisbane, Melbourne and Auckland, with the full lineup due to arrive in late September.

For Sydney, the return to Centennial Park puts Laneway back into one of the city’s most accessible festival settings, close to Oxford Street and connected to the CBD by light rail. More importantly, Sydney gets first crack at the lineup this time around rather than waiting for the festival caravan to make its way north.

From there, Laneway heads to Brisbane Showgrounds on Saturday, February 13, before taking a short break and returning to Melbourne on Friday, February 19. The festival heads back to Flemington Park, maintaining its connection with the city where Laneway first began more than two decades ago.

There is another change with Auckland hosting the festival finale for the first time, with Laneway taking over the newly refurbished Western Springs Bowl and surrounding Western Springs Park on Sunday, February 21.

What remains under wraps is the part everyone really wants to know: the lineup. Laneway says the 2027 bill will once again bring together emerging artists and established international names across multiple stages and genres, with the first announcement scheduled for late September.

Backseat Mafia has followed Laneway closely over the years, most recently covering the festival in 2026, where the Sydney lineup brought together artists including Wolf Alice, Wet Leg, Lucy Dacus, PinkPantheress, Geese, The Dare, Role Model and Teen Jesus and the Jean Teasers. The prospect of doing it all again is now beginning to take shape, albeit with Sydney occupying a new position at the front of the queue.

With dates and venues now locked in, attention turns to September and the lineup reveal that will determine the character of Laneway 2027.

Laneway Festival 2027 dates

Friday, February 12 – Centennial Park, Sydney
Saturday, February 13 – Brisbane Showgrounds, Brisbane
Friday, February 19 – Flemington Park, Melbourne
Sunday, February 21 – Western Springs, Auckland
