Manchester artist Xenya Genovese — known under the moniker Freak Slug — will make her Australian live debut this October, bringing her genre-blending sound to intimate venues across Melbourne, Brisbane and Sydney.

The tour comes off the back of her breakout album I Blow Out Big Candles, released earlier this year to critical support from NPR, Clash, The Fader, DIY, Line of Best Fit, and a digital cover with Notion Magazine. The record showcases Freak Slug’s distinctive mix of indie rock, noise, and dream-pop sensibilities, establishing her as one of the UK’s most unpredictable and inventive new voices.

Her Australian run includes shows at The Night Cat in Melbourne (Tuesday, 14 October), Crowbar in Brisbane (Wednesday, 15 October), and Metro Social in Sydney (Friday, 17 October). She is also scheduled to appear as part of the SXSW Sydney 2025 program.

Freak Slug has spent much of 2025 touring across the US, UK and Europe. Her live résumé includes appearances at SXSW Austin, Sheffield’s Get Together Festival, and major slots at Latitude Festival, Kendal Calling, Leeds Festival, and Rock N Roll Circus. Recent headline dates at venues such as New York’s Bowery Ballroom, LA’s Lodge Room, and London’s MOTH Club have further cemented her presence on the international circuit.

Freak Slug – Debut Australian Shows 2025

Tue 14 Oct 2025 – The Night Cat – Melbourne, VIC
Wed 15 Oct 2025 – Crowbar – Brisbane, QLD
Thu 16 – Sat 18 Oct 2025 – SXSW – Sydney, NSW
Fri 17 Oct 2025 – Metro Social – Sydney, NSW

Tickets for the Australian tour go on sale Friday 11 July at 10am local time via Handsome Tours.
