London Singer-Songwriter Marsha Swanson shares the new ‘Like an Angel’. A reimagined gem from her critically acclaimed album Near Life Experience, the track finds new life in a visual comparable to Aha’s video for ‘Take On Me’ and a radiant sonic rebirth.
Directed by award-winning Iranian animator and filmmaker Sam Chegini, ‘Like an Angel’ is more than a music video — it’s an immersive experience. The ethereal visuals, rich with symbolism and emotional depth, mirror the track’s themes of love, loss, and transcendence. Dreamy, abstract animation gently unfolds alongside Swanson’s poignant performance, evoking the intangible presence of those who’ve passed yet still guide us in unseen ways.
“Like an Angel is a song about acceptance,” Swanson explains. “It’s an ode to those no longer with us, whose philosophy or approach to life continues to influence and guide us. It’s written from love, about love.”
Originally an untitled “ghost track” from Near Life Experience, the song has undergone a transformation — re-recorded with a live band and lush string section that amplify its spiritual core. Swanson approached the track with fresh perspective and deep reverence, breathing new vitality into its layered arrangements and introspective lyricism. Musically warming, the tracks melodies glide above the twinkling backdrop to create an overall sound as comparable to Kate Bush as it is to Sting and Peter Gabriel.
