News: Mi von Ahn Stuns With Atmospheric New Double Single Ahead Of Third Album

Mi von Ahn explores the fragile territory between personal breaking points and collective uncertainty on her new double single, ‘Dadjat ii (II)’ and ‘Varje gång vi hörs kan det va för sent’ – a beautiful collision of trip-hop, psychedelia and shoegaze.

The dark, immersive Art School Girlfriend and Portishead-esque sound of ‘Dadjat ii (II)’ feels tailor-made for the first cold evenings of autumn. Hazy textures and an understated intensity give the track a quietly unsettling atmosphere, as von Ahn draws together elements of dream pop and alternative rock to create something both intimate and expansive. Its title translates from North Sámi as ‘to say no’, offering a glimpse into the themes running through the new album.

“The song is about stretching your limits further and further, until you finally realize you’ve reached your breaking point, both personally and in relation to the climate,” says von Ahn. “You’ve been pretending everything is normal, under control, when reality is the exact opposite.”

That tension between denial and recognition runs throughout the upcoming album Delta Veins, where the boundaries between private struggles and wider environmental concerns become increasingly difficult to distinguish. A relationship pushed beyond repair can become a reflection of a world approaching its own breaking point, with the album examining what happens when the warning signs are visible but action remains elusive.

‘Varje gång vi hörs kan det va för sent’ approaches similar emotional territory from a different angle. Sung in Swedish, the track trades the first single’s dreamlike haze for a restless, forward-driving arrangement, built around a looping drum beat and reverb drenched guitar lines, ultimately landing like a cross between POLIÇA, Daughter and Cocteau Twins. Von Ahn’s wistful vocals cut through the momentum, capturing the uneasy space between holding on and letting go.

“It’s a song about being at the breaking point, stuck in a limbo of uncertainty,” says von Ahn. “Trying again and again to repair a relationship that may have already run its course.”

Together, the two tracks offer the final preview of Delta Veins, an album shaped by the interconnected forces of water and fire. Water binds, obstructs and gradually dissolves, while fire brings destruction but also the possibility of awakening something that has grown numb. These contrasting elements provide a framework for songs that move between questions of identity, relationships and the climate crisis, tracing the same underlying search for change across seemingly different experiences.

Delta Veins also marks the first time von Ahn has written across multiple languages, bringing English, Swedish and passages in Sámi into a body of work that reflects a broader creative perspective. The multilingual approach adds another dimension to an album that moves fluidly between the personal and the collective, exploring how identity and a sense of place inform the way we relate to others and the environment.

Co-written and produced with Martin Hederos, known for his work with The Soundtrack of Our Lives and Tonbruket, and Anton Sundell, who has worked with Ane Brun, the record expands von Ahn’s established sound into an exciting and expansive new territory.

Listen to the two new singles below and keep an eye out for the upcoming full album.
